Royal Salute 21 Year Old, the world’s leading super-premium Scotch whisky, is celebrating after receiving a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) for the second year running.

This honour is testament to Royal Salute’s illustrious history and legacy as the very first whisky to be launched in the super-premium category, as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her coronation, in 1953. And the current celebrations are indeed appropriate in the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, commemorating her 60 years reign since she ascended the throne on the death of her father, King George VI, in 1952.

Royal Salute 21 Year Old is a sumptuous blend of very rare whiskies, each matured for at least 21 years. The deep golden amber colour reflects the power and intensity of this whisky. Sumptuous sweet gooseberry and fresh pear fruit characters are infused with spicy hazelnuts and notes of lavender. Its oaky smokiness is enhanced with a powerful floral fragrance and a mouth-filling velvety creaminess.

Royal Salute is sealed in exquisite porcelain flagons, themselves an art form, four days in the making. The flagons, reminiscent of traditional whisky flagons of the 19th century and earlier, are offered in a choice of red, green or blue, to mirror the rubies, emeralds and sapphires in the British monarch’s crown. As a finishing touch, each flagon is packaged in a beautiful velvet pouch.

Royal Salute 21 year old is available at a recommended retail price of R1800 - R2500.
